Definition
One of three kinds of enzymes that synthesize RNA using ribonucleotide triphosphates (ATP: CFP, GTP, UTP) and a DNA template. In eukaryotes, RNA polymerase I synthesizes ribosomal RNA; RNA polymerase synthesizes messenger RNA, and RNA polymerase III synthesizes transfer RNA.
