Definition
A Greek word (which means “equalâ€) that stands for the International Organization for Standardization The ISO is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, that seeks technological and scientific advancement by establishing nonproprietary standards. An umbrella organization for the standards bodies of more than 90 nations, the ISO is responsible for the development of the Open System Interconnect (OSI) Reference Model, a means of conceptualizing computer networks that has proven extremely influential, in addition to many standards that are used throughout the computing world today. In the United States, the ISO is represented by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
