Definition
An integer prime p is said to remain prime if the principal ideal (p)=pR is a prime ideal. Otherwise, the principal ideal (p) is a product P'P of a prime ideal and its conjugate, and in this case the prime p is said to split. If in addition P'=P, the prime p is said to ramify.
