Definition
Let f:S -> T be a function from a set S to a set T. If Y is a subset of T, the inverse image of Y under f, denoted by f^(-1)(Y), is defined t be the largest subset of S which f maps into Y; that is, f^(-1)*Y) = {x| x in S and f(x) in Y}.
