Buffer Overrun Sign Video

No video uploaded yet.

Definition

A buffer overrun occurs when a program writes data beyond the bounds of the buffer set aside for that data. While they can occur as the result of simple mistakes, buffer overruns are one of the most common types of malicious attacks perpetrated against software systems. Erroneous behavior caused by overwriting unexpected data can be exploited to gain control of a machine or otherwise compromise its security.
