Semipermanent Highs And Lows
Definition: Areas of high pressure (anticyclones) and low pressure (extratropical cyclones) that tend to persist at a particular latitude belt throughout the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, typically they shift slightly northward in summer and slightly southward in winter.
