Definition: Accelerated Graphics Port dedicated port that links the graphics controller on a personal computer directly to the computer's memory, instead of data having to be fetched via the expansion bus. AGP can handle at least twice the throughput of a standard PCI bus. The AGP was developed by Intel, and AGP support was added to later versions of Microsoft Windows 95.
