Spiral Cleavage

  • Definition: A type of embryonic cleavage in which cleavage planes are diagonal to the polar axis and unequal cells are produced by the alternate clockwise and counterclockwise cleavage around the axis of polarity; typically occurs with mosaic cleavage.
