Definition
Consider regular ans singular Sturm-Liouville problems. In a singular problem the eigenvalues may not be discrete. That is, the problem may have nontrivial solutions for every value of lambda, or for every value of lambda in some interval. In such a case the problem is said to have a continuous spectrum.
