Bioengineering encompasses a wide range of activities in which the disciplines of engineering and biological or medical science intersect. Such multidisciplinary endeavors are yielding new discoveries and major advances that are revolutionizing the health care system. Major areas of research and education include distributed diagnosis and home healthcare (d2h2), molecular bioengineering and nanotechnology, engineered biomaterials and tissue engineering, medical imaging and image-guided therapy, and computational bioengineering.
