Wireless Application Protocol
Definition: (WAP) A group of standards designed to allow web browsing and similar Internet-based services on wireless devices such as cell phones and PDAs. In addition to protocols for transmitting data on wireless networks, WAP defines the WML markup language. WAP is maintained by the Open Mobile Alliance.
