Countable Set

  • Definition: A countable set is one that can be put in one-to-one correspondence with the counting numbers 1,2,3,... Another way to put it is that a countable set can be ordered into a sequence.

  • Example: The integers are countable 0, 1, -1, 2, -2, ... In a more complicated way the rational numbers are countable.
